According to the latest ESI (Essential Science Indicators) released by Clarivate on September 11, 2019, HZAU’s pharmacology and toxicology ranks among the top 1% around the globe. At present, a total of nine discipline have been listed among the ESI top 1% and two among the top 1‰. They belong to five categories ─ agronomy, life sciences, sciences, engineering and medicine.
In May 2017, all disciplines included in the categories of agronomy and life science entered the ESI top 1% such as plant and animal sciences, agricultural sciences, biology and biochemistry, ecology, microbiology and molecular biology and genetics. In March 2019, the disciplines that ranked the top 1‰ represented the whole array of agronomy.
According to statistics, there are 33 universities in mainland China that have nine or more disciplines listed among the top 1%, among which Peking University has 21 disciplines, the largest number of all. There are 13 universities in mainland China that have 2 or more top 1‰ disciplines, among which Peking University and Zhejiang University rank the first, both with 8 disciplines.
