HZAU’s Celebration of the 35th Teachers’ Day and the 2018 Annual Commendation Ceremony

On the afternoon of September 9th, HZAU celebrated the 35th Teachers’ Day and 2018 Annual Commendation Ceremony. This ceremony was presided over by Vice President Wu Ping, attracting heads of all Departments and Colleges. University Party Secretary Gao Chi, President Li Zhaohu and other school leaders attended the ceremony and presented awards to the representatives.

At the beginning, the attendees watched the short film General Secretary Xi Jinping together with Teachers. Then the ceremony kicked off with the solemn national anthem.

Yao Jianglin, University Deputy Secretary, read the HZAU’s Decision on Comprehensive Rewards for 2018. School leaders awarded honorary medals for winner representatives, namely, winner of the Future Science Prize in Life Science, innovation research group of the National Natural Science Foundation, winner of the National Technology Invention Awards, etc.

Prof. Zhao Shuhong spoke as the winner representative. She first extended her thanks to her teachers and colleagues. Zhao also shared her experience of working and teaching in HZAU. Then she put forward three pieces of suggestions for teachers. The first is to care for our students, and to be mentors and companions in their career and life. The second is to broad horizons, update knowledge, and to be lovers and guides of life-long learning. The third is to position ourselves correctly so as to promote the building of excellent teaching and research teams.

President Li Zhaohu delivering a speech

Li expressed his heartfelt thanks to all the teachers that have promoted school development as well as education. He came up with four expectations: First, a teacher must be fully committed to his country, promote moral education and raise political, ideological and action consciousness. Second, every teacher should have a high sense of ownership. In the process of developing the country and agriculture, one should shoulder his responsibility. In realizing the Chinese Dream, one should be a dream-builder rather than a dreamer; and in promoting school development, one must work together with others. The third is to be innovative. One should know the dos and don’ts in   teaching, scientific research as well as disciplinary development,. The last is to be a striver. In the new age of high-quality school development, people must make joint efforts and strive for better performance in the future. He encouraged us, "I hope that all teachers can follow the example of those role models, uphold the school motto ‘learn and practice, achieve and help achieve’, thus to make greater contribution to the University.”
