Signing ceremony
On the afternoon of April 29, HZAU signed a strategic cooperative agreement with Institute of Hydroecology, MWR(Ministry of Water Resources of PRC)&CAS(Chinese Academy of Sciences). Attendees of the signing ceremony were Li Jianyong, Wan Chengyan and Li Dewang, senior officials of Institute of Hydroecology, MWR&CAS, Yao Jianglin, Vice President of HAZU, Guan Huanda, executive Vice President of the research institute of sci-tech development of HZAU, heads of College of Fisheries and College of Resources & Environment and some professors of HZAU. The ceremony was chaired by Wan Chengyan, the vice director of IH.
Li first gave a warm welcome to the attendees. He pointed out that the agreement signing would be a new start for both sides on merit complementarity and win-win cooperation, as well as on talent training, discipline construction and transfer of R&D results. They would make concerted efforts to protect ecological environment of the Yangtze River so as to facilitate the cause of ecological civilization construction.
Then, Yao indicated in his speech that HZAU highly valued the strategic cooperation. He said HZAU had set the goal of becoming a world-class university with distinctive characteristics in the 10th Party Congress of HZAU. To realize this goal, the university need to make more sci-tech breakthroughs so as to better serve the country; bring out more innovation achievements to meet national strategic needs; diversify research organization forms and integrate research resources to compete to be a national platform of sci-tech innovation; accelerate the building of newly interdisciplinary research institutions to promote the industry-college-institute Cooperation. He added that the University and the Institute were both in Wuhan in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, and they had the responsibility to fulfill the national strategic task of the Yangtze River protection through technology innovation. He hoped two sides would obtain mutual benefits through collaborative innovation guided by the common idea of development.

In the end, both sides exchanged their views on details about the cooperation. Yao and Li signed the cooperative agreement.
The cooperation between HZAU and institute of Hydroecology, MWR&CAS is an exploration in national sci-tech innovation system. It is aimed at strengthening the group of disciplines in the field of hydroecology and the talent training in this field. The two sides will establish a long- term cooperation in many aspects like research, talent training and academic exchanges so as to share resources, complement each other and bolster co-construction.
