Gao Chi, Secretary of School CPC Committee and Li Zhaohu, HZAU President led a field survey on campus environment, housing repairs, infrastructure reconstruction on 13rd March, 2019. Other leaders that participated in the survey included Liao Jizhong, Vice Secretary of School CPC Committee and HZAU Vice Presidents Wu Ping, Gou Gangqi and Yang Shaobo.
Logistics Management Office reported briefly on previous investigation results about environmental treatment, housing improvement and infrastructure reconstruction and illustrated on the budget, schedule and focus of the annual maintenance and repairs. After that, the inspection group checked the sites to be maintained and repaired, such as student dormitories, teaching buildings, library, Activity Center for Retirees, etc., and listened to the detailed reports on the maintenance and repair plans and anticipated goals set by the units in charge.
In field survey, Li Zhaohu said, campus environment building, housing improvement and infrastructure reconstruction are crucial guarantee for the normal teaching and scientific research activities. The investigation reveals there is still much room for university management improvement. If more details are taken into consideration, more work is needed to be done. In order to raise fine management level, while centering on management problems, HZAU should make use of every minute and work harder to complete maintenance and repair projects, particularly, the ones that might threaten teachers’ and students’ safety and affect the teaching and scientific research activities. Meanwhile, he required that quality supervision be strengthened and related national standards and industrial regulations be strictly followed so that the virtuous circle of university building and management can be formed and ‘emphasizing construction over quality’ and ‘stressing use over maintenance’ avoided.
Gao Chi emphasized that, “Years-long efforts, especially the comprehensive governance before 120th anniversary, have brought us significant progress in building a green, safe, and beautiful campus that should be all the more cherished. In bettering our campus, we should always adhere to the ecological concept of harmonious coexistence between nature and humans and the principle that buildings should be ‘suitable, economic, green and pleasing to the eye’, and thus build our campus into an excellent place for reading, learning and researching as well as for sightseeing. Investigations and surveys are needed to make construction plans in more systematic and scientific ways. In addition, we should say no to small-scale actions and wasteful duplication of work so that environmental problems that are of great concern to teachers and students can be eradicated. With focus on Yanhu East Road, we will continue to carry forward lake eco-system improvement. To build an ecologically advanced and harmonious HZAU, double efforts should be made to strengthen inspections on the use of water, electricity and equipment and therefore nip in the bud the construction of unplanned makeshift shacks and waste of water, and electricity in experimental field inside campus. ”
