On the afternoon of February 23, "Fungi and Health" Industry Forum was held in the lecture hall on the first floor of the International Academic Exchange Center of HZAU. The forum attracted researchers from various disciplines, such as microbiology, pharmacy and medicine, to carry out academic exchanges on the theme of "Fungi and Health" and to discuss industrial development strategies. The forum was sponsored by Hubei Society for Microbiology and Hubei Edible Fungi Association, and organized by Wuhan Huayu Xinmei Mushroom Industry Limited Company and Mycology Committee of Hubei Society for Microbiology. More than 150 representatives, including researchers, graduates and undergraduates from Huazhong Agricultural University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan University, Wuhan University of Technology and Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences participated in the forum. Leaders of retirement offices of universities were also invited. Prof. Bian Yinbing, director of Institute of Applied Mycology of HZAU, presided over the forum.
Prof. Hu Jianli, director of Oncology Department of Wuhan Union Hospital affiliated with Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, gave a report themed The Application of Medicinal Fungi in the Treatment of Tumors in Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine. On this report, the role of fungi in the prevention and rehabilitation of tumors was expounded from the aspects of basic medical research and clinical treatment of tumors. Prof. Cai Honglin, director of Nutriology Department of Wuhan Union Hospital, took "Fungi and Dietary Nutrition" as the topic, advocated the healthy dietary concepts of "one meat dish, one vegetable dish and one mushroom dish", illustrated the characteristics of high nutritional density and low energy density of edible fungi, and demonstrated the effects of edible fungi in improving the health conditions of patients with diabetes and obesity with clinical examples.
Prof. Feng Aiping, doctor of Dermatology Department of Wuhan Union Hospital analyzed the mechanism of ganoderma spore powder in free radicals elimination, anti-aging, anti-oxidation and whitening, and introduced its clinical application in anti-allergy, anti-virus and treatment of skin trauma. Professor Tang Qing from Wuhan Union Hospital, who has engaged in the research of traditional Chinese medicine, explained the mechanism and application effects of ganoderma lucidum in the treatment of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and insomnia with substantial scientific experiments and clinical cases. Prof. Ren Hongyu, director of the Gastroenterology Department of Wuhan Union Hospital, expounded the mechanism of ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide in protecting gastric mucosa and regulating intestinal function in multiple dimensions from two aspects of the diversity of ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide and gastrointestinal structure and function, and emphasized its unique role of ganoderma lucidum polysaccharide in shaping and balancing intestinal flora and enhancing intestinal biological barrier.
Prof. Bian Yinbing from HZAU introduced the research progress and industrial development status of Ganoderma lucidum at home and abroad, explained the whole process of fungal drugs from evaluation of germplasm resources, excavation of new compounds , structure modification of lead compounds, pharmacological activity research to clinical trials, and stressed that the development of fungal drugs and health products must follow the scientific, rigorous and serious principle.
