On March 24th to 25th local time, Professor Gao Chi, the discipline leader of Landscape Architecture, was invited to visit Benha University and Ain Shamsom University in Egypt. During his trip, he attended the report on Joint Course Design of Landscape Architectureat held at Ain Shamsom University. It is jointly organized by three universities respectively from China, The U.S.A and Egypt.

Prof. Gao visits the laboratory of Animal College of Benha University

President Kady and other leaders of Benha University warmly received Prof. Gao. Vice President Aboul-Enien delivered a brief introduction of Benha University. Prof.Gao first gave president Deng Xiuxin’s regards to Benha University. Then, he warmly invited teachers and students of Benha University to visit HZAU which will celebrate its 120th anniversary this year. In Benha University, Prof.Gao visited the laboratory and internship base of Agricultural College, the Animal Feeding Base of Animal College and the water treatment system in recirculating aquaculture in College of Engineering , etc. He also paid a visit to an Egyptian alumnus (whose Chinese name is Ma Long) , who graduated from the School of Economics and Management of HZAU.

Prof. Gao spoke highly of the Joint Class Design, and then conducted in-depth exchanges with  Prof. Ayman, Dean of College of Engineering and advisers of Egyptian government and other teachers on collaborative research, joint teaching, mutual visits of teachers and students, and furthering cooperation and exchanges between the two universities. Prof. Hala from Clemson University of the United States presided over the report. Each group of students reported on their course design. Among them, our students made presentations on the existing problems and renovation plans about plants, infrastructure, and road pavements in old town---Marina and the coastal area---Walkway. Gao appreciated students’ reports and gave comments as well as suggestions to them separately. He pointed out that we should pay more attention to how to solve problems in a targeted manner than only find out the problems. He said as landscape architecture majors, we should always keep in mind our mission and take into practice the philosophy that “landscape architecture is continuously creating a better life .”

The class-ending ceremony of Joint Course design was held in the Zaafarana Hall of Ain Shamsom University. Gao remarked that the history of a university and a nation is written by the young generations, so young people should shoulder social responsibilities. As Human beings has increasingly been a community with a shared destiny. Young people should work together to build a better world when facing a complex international situation. To conclude, Prof. Gao expressed his sincere gratitude to all parties. He also warmly invited Egyptian students to come to China to seek opportunities and bring their talents into full play.
