On the morning of March 16, the opening ceremony of 2018 China Forum of Large Swine Farm Intelligent Manufacturing was held at the International Academic Exchanges Center in Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU). The forum was organized by the Editorial Department of the Journal Animals Breeding and Feed,co-organized by the Key Laboratory for the Creation of Veterinary Diagnostic Preparations of the Ministry of Agriculture and Hubei Huada Real Technology Co., Ltd. Prof. Wang Maohua, Prof. Fu Tingdong, and Prof. Chen Huanchun are all members of Chinese Academy of Engineering. Together with Prof. Zhang Xianlong, Vice President of HZAU, they attended the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Zhang Xianlong delivered a speech. He believed that the development of the pig industry must keep pace with the times, and we should seize the historic opportunity of economic development and our university’s first-class disciplines construct and make good use of the Internet to promote the development of the pig industry. He invited all the participants to celebrate the 120th anniversary of HZAU in October.
Prof. Chen Huanchun proposed that the future of pig farms should be automated, informationized, and intelligentized from several aspects. He said that although China’s technology still needs to be improved in terms of intelligent manufacturing, China will certainly achieve breakthroughs through the joint efforts. Prof. Bi Dingren, Dean of College of Animal Sciences and Technology/College of Veterinary Medicine, spoke highly of Prof. Chen's remarks. He said that with the development of science and technology, the pig industry has entered into an era of intelligence. At the moment, we should actively seek cross-border cooperation to promote greatly the fast development of pig industry.
Prof. Wang Maohua illustrated his thoughts on “Innovative Development of Industrialization of Large Scale Swine Farms”. He explained this from the modernization of rural areas and agriculture, the new development trend of China’s animal husbandry and pig industry, and the intelligent manufacturing promoted by the Revolution of Information Technology in a new era. He said that this is an era in which challenges and opportunities coexist. Therefore, we should update our concepts and scientifically plan for the future development. He believed that the concept of modern industrialization should be introduced and strategic research on innovation-driven methods should be conducted to large-scale pig industry. Looking forward to 2018, he said, “The prevention and control of diseases are of vital importance in large scale swine farm manufacturing”.
