Gao Chi, the school party secretary, President Deng Xiuxin, Zhang Qifa, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, Vice-president Zhang Xianlong, Vice-President Li Chongguang and other relevant personnel attended the opening ceremony of the Institute of “Two Aquas Double Green” held in the meeting room on the fifth floor of the administrative building on the afternoon of March 29th. Guan Huanda, the executive vice dean of the Institute of Science and Technology, presided over the meeting.
Zhang Xianlong read out the notice on Establishing the Institute of “Two Aquas Double Green” in HZAU and the members of its Science and Technology Committee and of its administrative board.
Deng Xiuxin and Zhang Qifa jointly unveiled the plaque, giving an official launch of the institute.
Zhang Qifa pointed out that the institute was established in the hope of promoting the development of disciplines and boosting their industrialization. He said, “The pattern that incorporates raising shrimps or frogs into the planting of rice can truly meet the goal of using no pesticides and less fertilizer.” He then emphasized the fundamental conception of “Two Aquas Double Green”, which is “Gaining two products in the same field, namely rice and aquatic products, while generating both mutual benefit and restrictive effect.”
According to Zhang Qifa, the Institute of Two Aquas Double Green should further specify its goal and commit itself to planting rice with high value and tackling problems of the genetic breeding of shrimps. Meanwhile, he hoped that the institute could take this opportunity to promote its interdisciplinary research, strengthen and expand the industry, increase products and profits for farmers through innovative farming as well as add green to villages.
Deng Xiuxin congratulated on the establishment of the institute, praising it as an embodiment of market orientation and the need of people. To promote this project in Hubei Province not only gives play to its geographical advantage but also meets with the needs of the national strategy of promoting green industry.
Deng expressed his hopes in the following four aspects: first, do practical work and advance step by step. From theory to technology and finally into products, this process shall be conducive to farmers and rural revitalization. Second, tackle major scientific and industrial problems. Innovate on the basis of current achievements and reap its new fruits as soon as possible. Third, pay constant respect to the natural law of agriculture. Do not rush for success with impatience or over-enthusiasm. Fourth, work efficiently. Try to make theoretical breakthroughs and technical innovations to increase earnestly the income of farmers.
It is known that HZAU established the Institute of Two Aquas Double Green(TADG) in order to further promote the interdisciplinary study, strengthen independent scientific and technological innovation and serve the rural vitalizating strategy. Gu Zemao was appointed the dean, Yu Sibin the deputy dean. Zhang Qifa, Xiao Changxi and other 10 professors were named as members of the Science and Technology Committee. Zhang Qifa, Gu Zemao and other 7 professors were named as members of the administrative board.
