The opening ceremony of the 19th CPC National Congress was held at the Great Hall of the People at 9:00 a.m. on October 18. The faculties and students of HZAU gathered together to learn the report delivered by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee. The report caused a hot discussion among the democratic parties in HZAU.
“I think it’s a report with many characteristics, and the key word of the report is ‘new’. First, the 19th CPC National Congress is to open up a new era and lead the Chinese nation into a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Second, the opening of the Congress is the sign that socialism with Chinese characteristics has crossed the threshold into a new era, and we are standing at the historical starting point of great rejuvenation. Third, ‘The Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era’ put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping in the report is very encouraging and it should be a new theoretical thought of the Communist Party of China. Fourth, General Secretary Xi charted a blueprint for future development from 14 aspects. These contents actually represent the latest achievement in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context, embody the strong vitality of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the 21st century and reflect the wisdom and results of the great practical experience of the Chinese Communist Party. We will not only support the new great conclusions and decision-making of the 19th CPC National Congress, but also profoundly understand the spirit and essence of ‘The Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era’, and further strengthen ‘the four self-confidence’ (Road confidence, theoretical confidence, system confidence, cultural confidence), earnestly study and take a new great journey with the CPC.” said Prof. Hu Ronggui, Member of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang, college of resource and environment.

“Xi listed a 14-point basic policy that underpins the endeavors to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and we must exercise the unified leadership of CPC over all affairs of our country. The multi-party cooperation and political consultation system under the leadership of the Communist Party of China is a basic political system of our country. In the new era, the non-CPC parties must strictly accept and adhere to the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party in the course of political consultation, political participation, democratic supervision and self-construction.” Said Prof. Yan Fengxian, Member of the China Democratic National Construction Association, College of Economics and Management.
“Three and a half hours’ report delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping embodies the wisdom and determination of the CPC and the people of all ethnic groups of the country, and represens the aspirations of our democratic parties, It motivates and challenges us to strive. The report points out that we must hasten to build an innovative country, we must aim to be at the forefront of science and technology, strengthen basic research, achieve forward-looking basic research and lead major breakthrough of the original results.
