The 15th International Symposium on Rice Functional Genomics was held in Suwon, South Korea, from 25th to 27th in September. About 360 experts, scholars and representatives from more than 30 countries and regions including China, the United States, South Korea, Japan, the Philippines and France, attended the symposium, the topics of which comprised rice photosynthesis, rice metabolism, abiotic stress, biological stress, plant development and so on. The 3-day symposium consisting of numerous special reports centered around themes such as rice photosynthesis, rice metabolism, abiotic stress, biological stress, plant development.
In the main venue, Prof. Zhang Qifa, Prof. Zhou Daoxiu and Prof. Zhao Yunde, were invited as special guests to deliver reports respectively. In the report, Evolutionary and Biological Processes Underlying the S5 Reproductive Barrier in Indica-Japonica Hybrids, Prof. Zhang Qifa introduced the latest development in the research of latest research progress of S5 reproductive barrier in indica-japonica hybrids concerning in the matters of inheritance, molecular mechanism and evolution. Prof. Zhou Daoxiu illustrated the progress made by his team in recent years in epigenetic regulation, disease-resistant plant and metabolism. Prof. Zhao Yunde elaborated on the development and application of the CRISPR technology, as well as shed new light on the pathway of rice auxin.
In one of the parallel sessions, Prof. Wu Changyin, Prof. Xiong Lizhong, and Prof. Luo Jie, gave the reports entitled HAF1 Mediates the Ubiquitination in the Photoperiodic Flowering Pathway in Rice, Genetic Architecture of Drought Resistance Revealed by Association Studies in Rice, and Metabolomics-Assisted Dissection Genetic Control of Rice Leaf Senescence, respectively.
180 posters were showcased during the symposium, among which the poster A XA3/XA26-Interacting Protein K16 Functions as a Positive Component in the XA3/XA26-Mediated Innate Immunity in Rice submitted by Liu Yanyan, the doctoral student of College of Life Sciences & Technology of HAZU, was awarded Excellent Poster Award.
