Falling on the 15th day of the 8th month according to the Chinese lunar calendar, the Mid-Autumn Festival is the second grandest festival after the Spring Festival in China.

As an ancient Chinese saying goes: “My heart grows fonder of faraway loved ones on festive days”, College of Foreign Languages, Department of International Cooperation and Exchange and International College jointly hosted the Mid-autumn Festival Gala in the Student Activity Center where teachers and students from home and abroad gathered to celebrate the spirit of the festival and savor moon cakes. Wang Pingxiang, secretary of the party committee of College of Foreign Languages, Yang Chengcai, deputy party secretary of College of Foreign Languages, and Hu Chengxiao, director of Department of International Cooperation and Exchange attended the gala.

Cheng Jinxiu, teacher of the College of Foreign Languages along with foreign teacher Mathew, sang a song---Thinking of You. Beautiful singing accompanied by elegant dancing presented a feast for both ears and eyes. Also, Professor Hu Chengxiao, introduced the customs of Mid-Autumn Festival to the students from abroad.

Martial Art Association staged Chinese Kongfu Performance. The unique martial art performance was embraced with a standing ovation. Before the audience recovered from the thrill, the traditional Chinese legato with an array of Chinese instruments created a polar different ambience where harmony and restfulness prevail.

The show Chinese Tea Ceremony put up by Tea art performance team from College of Horticulture and Forestry Sciences brought the audience into a tranquil world where the profound history of purple clay teapots as well as blue and white porcelain cups was unfurled and tea fragrance filled the air.

The song, Untitled Amazing Love, performed by the international student, Nelly, swept every one off their feet, for his memorizing voice and dexterous guitar skills.

Members from the Taekwondo Association marvelously pulled off their stunts by cleaving a plank with bare hands and cracking three thick sticks.

Different from those masculine featured programs, the belly dance by Bao Jiamin from College of Life Sciences and Technology attracted all the spectators’ attention with its feminine beauty.

In the end, with all the audience enjoying the moon cakes together, the gala came to an end.
