From May 2nd to 6th, HZAU delegation, led by Vice President Li Chongguang visited Ohio State University at the invitation of William I.Brustein, vice president of OSU. The two universities signed cooperation agreements and held in-depth discussion upon issues including joint training of high-level talents, academic exchange and summer vacation programs.
At the signing ceremony, William I.Brustein expressed warm welcome on behalf of the university to the delegation. They introduced the basic conditions of the two universities and reviewed the history and achievements of cooperation between the two sides. They also had exchanges of views about expanding exchanges among students and scholars after the signing. A memorandum of understanding was signed to further promote cooperation.
The delegation visited School of Food and Agricultural Environmental Science after the ceremony and met Jerry M Bigham , vice Dean in charge of research and post-graduate education. Then the delegation discussed dual-degree programs with Joanna Kukielka-Blaser, project supervisor of International Relations Program in the Division of International Cooperation and Exchanges.
Then they attended a lecture about body inversion approach of language teaching given by Li Minru from East Asian Language Center and negotiated on the summer English learning programs and teacher training programs with Galal Walker, director of the center.
The delegation also met with alumni and some Chinese scientists working at OSU and visited the library, gymnasium and internship bases on campus. The delegation was escorted by HZAU alumni, Prof. Wang Hanping throughout the visit.
Ohio State University's is among the Top 20 on the list of best public research universities in US(2013) and ranks No. 99 in 2016 QS World Universities. During years of cooperation, OSU and HZAU have jointly trained 6 PhDs, co-published over 10 high-level articles and organized an International Symposium and two summer English training courses. Cooperation with Ohio State University is among the priorities in the 13th Five-Year Plan of HZAU.
The signing of the agreement not only marks a milestone in the relationship between the two universities, but also will usher in a new era of cooperation.
