On 10th October, the 2nd International Symposium on Waste Conversion and Utilization by Microbe and Edible Insects and Forum on Frontiers of Microbiology was held in the conference hall of HZAU National Engineering Research Center of Microbial Pesticides. The Symposium, attended by over 70 people including distinguished experts and entrepreneurs from home and abroad, was co-hosted by the College of Life Science and Technology, State Key Laboratory of Agricultural Microbiology and National Engineering Research Center of Microbial Pesticides of HZAU.
Prof. Zhang Jibin, from the College of Life Science, chaired the symposium, and Mr.He Xishun, Party Secretary of this college delivered the welcome speech.Ten invited speakers gave reports centered on the theme respectively. Hans den Bieman and Eduardo Waldron, heads of Patagonia Wings S.A. in Chile, coming all the way to attend the symposium, had an in-depth discussion with us about relevant issues concerning popularization and application of waste conversion by soldier fly and microbe in Chile.
Prof. Yu Ziniu, from the College of Plant Science & Technology, proposed to convene the International Conference on Edible Insects and Microbe Feeding the World, and Associate Prof. Zheng Longyu made a report on the framework of preparations. Experts present determined that HZAU would host it in May, 2018.
After the symposium, foreign experts saw how to utilize black soldier fly Wuhan strain and microbe to realize the conversion of 300,000 tons of chicken manure in Pioneer Ecological Agriculture Company and the conversion of food residues in Xi’an JM Green Technology Co., Ltd .
