A delegation of Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences(SLU) visited HZAU on May 9th, and the conference was held in the lecture hall at the Key Laboratory of Horticultural Plant Biology, Ministry of Education.
Kuang Hanhui, vice dean of the College of Horticulture & Forestry Sciences (CHFS), briefly introduced the development of the Key Laboratory of Horticultural Plant Biology and delivered a report on its scientific achievements in the past few years. He mentioned that with a long history, the CHFS possesses outstanding disciplinary advantage and has been strengthening its leading role in discipline construction through integrating it with the social and economic demands. Prof. Kuang also introduced the scientific achievements CHFS has made, including 537 scientific projects, 307 theses released in SCI, and 12 significant scientific and technological awards.
Prof. Harry Wu from SLU made a report on Umea Plant Science Centre, introducing its development and research achievements published in recent years. As he mentioned, this center mainly focuses on the research of six fields including developmental biology, genetic breeding, bioinformatics, cell biology, plant photosynthesis, and plant physiology. He also illustrated the gene control of the flowering of poplar, which is the latest research results of the Center. Meanwhile, he made further association analysis with the GWAS group of poplar. He noted that the Center found that poplar flowering was controlled by three genes including FT/FDLI/ABI, made reasonable conclusion based on regulating these genes through the analysis of their genetic transcriptome , and verified the experimental results by transgenic plant. Prof. Inger Ahman also introduced the basic situation of plant breeding platform in SLU, and encouraged our students to go there for study or exchanges.
