HZAU International Show: Contact Korean Culture

Teaching Chinese Students to Make Korean Seaweed and Rice Rolls

On the evening of April 17th, the 8th HZAU International Show: Contact Korean Culture, was jointly hosted by the International College and the Korean Language and Culture Center, in the Conference Hall of the Integrated Building.Many leaders attended this activity including School Party Secretary Li Zhongyun, Vice President Zhang Xianlong, President Suk-Jung Han of Dong-A University, South Korea, President Hu Chengxiao of the International College, Director Jiang Heng of the Office of Academic Affairs and DeanChung Young Sooof the Biotechnology College of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Dong-A University, andDirector Mun Cheol Ju of the International Affairs Office.In the beginning, President Suk-Jung Han delivered a speech on behalf of Dong-A University. “Dong-A University and Huazhong Agricultural University have been working together for 15 years, and I hope we can further develop our friendship and have a better future.” Vice President Zhang Xianlong also made a speech, hoping to further expand a study platform for graduate students, and enhance the depth and breadth of exchanges and cooperation through cultural exchanges between China and South Korea. “Since 2002, relying on, more than 160 Dong-A University students have come to our university for exchange studies, and 131 HZAU students to Dong-A University long-term and short-term programs. Currently, two students from Dong-A University who used to study in HZAU as exchange students, are studying for master’s degree here.” said Zhang Xianlong.

The party began with taekwondo show performed by the Korean students who combined classic taekondo movements with pop dance. The novel form won warm applauses from the audience, and the perfectly kicking down a board was absolutely breathtaking. The following song and dance performances brought the gala to its climax. Audiences felt the encounter between Korean pop culture and vigor of youth upon hearing Korean pop songHoney.Korean students dressed in traditional costumes introduceda full range of attractions in Dong-A University and Busan via PPT and videos. Finally, 15 Korean teachers and students sang a songHand In Handin three languages (Chinese, Korean and English), which represents lasting friendships between China and ROK.

“We have rehearsed for three weeks,” said a South Korean student. “This activity is very meaningful, and it can well promote exchanges between China and Korea.”

Since the establishment of the Korean Language and Culture Center, Korean shows have been held for three consecutive years under the guidance of Korean teachers, becoming one ofthe quality activities on cultural exchanges.
