Zhang Qifa offers guidance in Shennongjia Yaowang Valley
From October 28 to 30, Zhang Qifa, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and professor of the College of Life Sciences & Technology of HZAU, led a team to inspect the development and operation of Shennongjia Science & Technology Innovation Center (SSTIC). They visited Shennongjia Ecological Wine Co., Ltd., Shennongjia Yaowang Valley and other bases. Also, they provided guidance on the cooperation between SSTIC and local enterprises.
At SSTIC, Zhang investigated the operation of the central office areas, laboratories, accommodation areas, canteens and affiliated bases. He acknowledged the efforts made to build and develop the Center, and suggested that the Center leverage its unique location and abundant resources. In addition, he encouraged the Center to attract more talents and research teams to conduct a series of work including research, achievement transformation, social services, academic exchanges and personnel training, and produce high-level results to serve the socio-economic development of Shennongjia.
In Shennongjia Ecological Wine Industry Co., Ltd., the person in charge introduced the progress of the cooperative projects with HZAU in the optimization of brewing crafts, the cultivation of strain and red sorghum varieties for brewing, etc. Zhang expressed the hope to witness long-term cooperation between both sides, in a bid to cultivate excellent varieties of red sorghum for brewing which can be adapted to the climate conditions of Shennongjia.
In Shennongjia Yaowang Valley, Changqing Village, Yangri Town, Zhang introduced the latest concept of preventive treatment of disease to the project leaders and key stuff. His introduction covered the aspects of whole grain, sleep recuperation, diet for preventive treatment of disease, genome-precision nutrition-targeted intervention strategies progress. He also put forward useful suggestions for the promotion and orientation of the key rehabilitation projects of Shennongjia Yaowang Valley. Kuang Xu, the head of the Valley, stated that Prof.Zhang’'s concepts have elevated their understanding of modern rehabilitation and healthcare medicine. He pointed out that the company will strengthen cooperation with HZAU in forests rehabilitation programs, health medicine, Chinese herbal medicine, talent training and park planning in the future. Also, the company will live up to its statue -- Town of Chinese herb and build it into an ever-stronger health and rehabilitation resort in Central China.
During the visit, Zhang also investigated the development and existing problems of chilling-tolerance rice industry in Shennongjia. In this regard, he will carry out specialized research in the chilling-tolerance rice bases with his team in collaboration with SSTIC in the near future.
