As soon as the starting gun was fired by Gao, they officially began running. The activity featured two sorts of teams: group teams and individual teams. The group teams started first and ran in a clockwise direction along the new running track, passing through areas such as Juyuan Road, Yanhu Road (E), Nanhui Road and so on. Along the route, aid stations and souvenir areas were set up to provide water and stickers for the runners. Three stickers can be exchanged for a souvenir at the destination.

After about half an hour, they arrived at the destination. Dong Changhui from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and his fellows from the “Shishan Long-distance Running Team”, participated in the activity as a team. Being regular runners, they soon reached the finishing point. “We run almost every day, and the newly renovated running track now has a synthetic surface, making it safer, more forgiving for students to run. In addition, I also frequently play volleyball and badminton. Sports has become a part of my life,” said Dong.

Professor Zhao Ke from the College of Public Administration, ran with his five graduate students. Zhao mentioned that the scenery along the lake was picturesque and breathtaking, so they all enjoyed the beauty of autumn. “Naming this activity ‘Qixin’ is very meaningful because ‘Qixin’ means ‘get a new start’ in Chinese. At the beginning of the new semester, we gather here and run on the totally new running track. It allows students to exercise more, challenge themselves and form a good habit of exercising, which will lay a solid foundation for their campus life,” Zhao stated.

Tian Changcong, a counselor from the College of Informatics, also shared his opinion. He said, “The activity signifies a fresh start. I hope that from this moment on, we will keep a habit of exercising and make sports a way of life.”
