The training route began at the East Stadium to Shizishan Avenue and the Twenty-four Solar Term Columns before returning to Yanhu East Road and Shizishan Greenway. The whole journey is about ten kilometers, and each regiment started at 3-minute intervals.

During the measured march, the military training students were full of vitality and vigor. They sang military songs in unison or chanted slogans in high morale.
Unlike previous years, three new items were included in the route march: crossing through the contaminated zone, defending against enemy air strikes, and fighting in counter-ambush, each of which tested the military training students.

Suddenly, the air was permeated with thick poison smoke. “Stop! Masks on and pass now!”, the captain shouted as the students were passing by the experimental field. A dagger squad crossed the poison zone quickly with masks on and guns in hands, followed by the rest students with wet towel on, stooping down through the zone.

As the military training students reached Yanhu East Road, “the enemy’s movements” reappeared. Detecting the “enemy aircraft” hovering overhead, the scouts quickly sounded the air defense alarm. “Boom!” The ignition of smoke bomb produced thick smoke here and there immediately.
Drill master Sun Yang shouted to take cover. The soldiers quickly looked for shelter, crawling on the ground to protect the regimental flag. The dagger squad poised for fighting, taking up arms and fired at the target. When the “enemy aircraft” was shot down, the alarm was lifted.
The soldiers checked their weapons, and moved on. Yan Zhao, the flag bearer of the regiment 5, said: “the flag is the soul of an army as it represents our regiment. We shall fight as long as we live.”

On Shishan Greenway, the military division were attacked by an unknown enemy. “Cover! Squad No.1 to right and No.2 left”, said the captain. The dagger squad quickly rushed into the woods, investigated carefully and looked for shelters to confront the enemy. Squad No.3 had a head-on combat with the major force, backed by Squad No.2 outflanking the enemy and others defending against surprise attack. Li Xuyang knocked his rival with shoulder, tripping him down and locking his throat. Gao Yangzhou gave an arm throw to another “enemy soldier”, fleeing in panic, and the enemy was knocked down. After a fierce battle, the squad defeated the enemy and gained victory.
At 11:00 am, with the return of the last regiment to the East Stadium, the route march came to an end.
