On May 28, HZAU held online and offline the “2022 Second Symposium on Promotion and Practice of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era & 2022 Jingchu Forum on Rural Revitalization”. Experts and scholars participating in the forum included those from National People’s Congress (NPC), Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Development Research Center of the State Council, Chinese Academy of Engineering, research institutes and universities.
The scene of the forum
Under the sponsorship of Hubei Research Center of Chinese Characteristic Socialism Theoretical System, the Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hubei and HZAU, the conference was undertaken by HZAU Rural Revitalization Research Institute and the College of Economics & Management. It mainly focused on how to comprehensively implement the strategy of rural revitalization and help build modern agriculture and rural areas. Following president Xi’s discourse on issues as to “agriculture, rural areas and farmers” and the resolutions formulated by the Party Committee and by the State Council, experts discussed how to achieve rural revitalization in an all-round way. They also exchanged views on practices of accelerating modernization of agriculture and rural areas and boosting rural revitalization.
The forum had 20 theme reports consisting of 4 sections, the first of which was presided over by Song Hongyuan, president of the Research Institute. Besides, three important reports were respectively made by Liu Zhenwei, the member of NPC Standing Committee, Chen Xiaohua, deputy director of the the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Affairs of CPPCC, and professor Deng Xiuxin, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
In the meanwhile, other experts also discussed the implementation of rural revitalization strategies, by delivering reports on major theoretical and practical issues, such as improving food security, ensuring supply of critical farm produce, maintaining achievements made in poverty alleviation, increasing gains of the lower-income groups, promoting industrial and rural development, and boosting the integration of urban and rural areas at the county level.
