On March 14, HZAU Vice President Yan Jianbing and his group visited Xianning to carry out the activity “Rural Revitalization in Hubei” and promote university-local government cooperation in Osmanthus industry. Zeng Guoping, group leader for the project “Building Xianning into a China Town of Osmanthus”, heads of relevant municipal units and enterprises attended the symposium.
At the symposium, Zheng Riru (associate professor of HZAU College of Horticulture & Forestry Sciences) introduced the cooperation plan to build the China Town of Osmanthus. He said the university-local government cooperation could focus on six areas in fragrance industry with Osmanthus as its core, including screening fine varieties, developing quality products, building a platform for cultural tourism, improving consumption stickiness, achieving complementary advantages and co-building a base for health and wellbeing. Relying on Xianning’s natural resource endowments, industrial clusters and HZAU’s disciplinary advantages and R&D think tank, both parties can pool all these strengths to drive industrial revitalization in Xianning where people can dwell in a city of sweet fragrance. They also had in-depth exchanges and discussions on specific industrial issues.
Zeng Guoping expressed his warm welcome to Yan Jianbing and his group followed by the introduction to the latest industrial development of Osmanthus in Xianning and the progress of the project “Building Xianning into a China Town of Osmanthus”. He hoped that both sides can build a platform for in-depth cooperation to tap the value of Osmanthus in multiple ways so as to realize the high-quality development of the industry.
Yan Jianbing described the implementation of “Rural Revitalization in Hubei” by HZAU. He said that since Xianning abounds in Osmanthus and HZAU has a leading “double world-class” discipline, both sides can focus on the construction of research institutes, university-local government cooperation, talent training, scientific and technological research in a way to strengthen the coordinated development between enterprises, universities and research institutes, achieve resource sharing and form complementary partnerships. He stressed that HZAUers have the ability and confidence in developing Osmanthus industry and its related businesses and will endeavor to build them into stronger and better ones. Moreover, he added that HZAU will back up the talent training and provide more accurate scientific and technological service for the Osmanthus farmers. As such, they can promote the industry, make high income possible and contribute to the rural revitalization in Xianning.
Yan Jianbing and his group also went to the front line of enterprises such as Yellow Crane Tower Distillery Company and Red Bull subcompany in Wuhan to be updated on their developments.
Scholars and heads from College of Engineering and College of Horticulture & Forestry Sciences and others from the Academy of Science and Technology Development participated in the above activities.
