HZAU issued its White Paper on Cultural Development (2020) on November 26, 2021. The Paper reviewed what HZAU had done in cultural development with “life” as its theme in 2020 from the aspects including institutional building, campus cultural activities and implications afterwards. The year of 2020 was a very special year. The outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic brought great challenges to human society. All the teachers and students of HZAU were delayed from going back to school. Against this backdrop, HZAU initiated a series of online activities of “Enjoying Campus Spring Scenery Online” and has since started the value education activities related to “life” all year round, giving full play to the special role of campus culture in uniting, comforting and stimulating students and teachers.
In 2020, HZAU further made full use of university culture to cultivate talents. To implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s philosophy of “talents cultivation for the Party and the State”, HZAU highly valued cultural development and elaborately organized a series of cultural activities to build close ties between teachers and students, stimulate creative ideas, and digest beauty in our life, such as “Enjoying Campus Spring Scenery Online”, “Graduation Season”, “Orientation Season”, “Shishan Reading Festival”, “Shishan Arts Festival”, and “Shishan Carnival”, etc.
In 2020, HZAU took “virtue fostering through education” as the fundamental task in cultural development, implementing all-round education for students’ development, and focusing on the goal of building a world-class university with distinctive characteristics. The university further gave full play to the mechanism and function of the “Shishan Culture Valley” in gathering resources and utilizing space in the campus culture so as to promote the deep integration of its cultural development with the goal of becoming a “national civilized university”, and strengthen the platform construction and institutional innovation.
The release of the White Paper (2020), according to head of the Cultural Office, is not only to review our efforts on cultural development, but also to further stimulate teachers and students to have higher expectations for campus cultural development. In addition, joint efforts are needed by all the teachers and students to build HZAU into a university with more open, richer and freer culture, creating “Shishan Aesthetics”.
