HZAU professors celebrated Chinese Farmers’ Harvest Festival with villagers in Panlong village (a rural revitalization demonstration site in Songluo Township, Shennongjia Forestry District, northwestern Hubei) on September 23rd.
To celebrate the festival, a lively tug of war was held in the valley of Panlong village. This competition was quite particular, since one side of the rope was local villagers and the officers of Shennongjia Forest Agricultural Bureau, while the other side was the professors of HZAU.
Standing first in the team, Professor Zhang Xuezhen pulled the rope back with all his strength, his face flushing but with a smile. At the end of the line stood Li Zhaohu, the President of HZAU. He tied the rope around his waist and held it tightly to prevent it from slipping away. After the competition, the two sides exchanged greetings and celebrated the harvest festival together with laughter.
Xu Hua, mayor of Songluo Township, said at the critical moment when "Poverty Alleviation" is followed by "Rural Revitalization", the joint construction of HZAU rural demonstration site in Huilongping Village, would certainly promote the construction of beautiful villages and help implement the national strategy of rural vitalization.
President Li said Shennongjia Forestry District is a promising land full of magnificent scenery, a region which HZAU would deepen cooperation with greater determination, clearer objectives and stronger measures for its quality development and high-level protection.

On the same day, the opening ceremony of "Xiaorizi" inn was held in Panlong village, which is one of the 17 rural revitalization demonstration sites cooperated with HZAU in 2021.
Since the implementation of the "Rural Revitalization of Hubei" plan in July 2020, more than 500 professors and 5000 students of HZAU have served in rural regions of Hubei. They have worked at the forefront of helping "agriculture, rural areas and farmers" to practice the mission of "knowing agriculture and loving agriculture" and "boosting agricultural prosperity".
