Prof. Bi Delivers Speech at Kazakhstan International Conference

Prof. Bi Geng, from the College of Humanities & Social Sciences, delivered a keynote speech at the International Scientific and Practical Online Conference staged by Al-Farabi Kazakh National University of Kazakhstan, which fell on May 20 and 21.

With the theme of “Kazakhstan and the Countries of the East: Past, Present, Future”, the meeting in celebration of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan attracted dozens of experts, who made keynote speeches on the relations between the central Asian country and oriental nations. Profound and far-reaching discussion was conducted about past connections, cultural exchanges, political collaboration, and economic and trade cooperation.

In the speech titled “Research on the Publicity of Urban Images: Case Study of Expo 2017 Astana”, Prof. Bi, director of the Center for International Communication of Chinese Culture, explored how cities can form impressive images on the international arena by resorting to “media events” methods at both theoretical and practical levels. Centering on the spread of Astana’s images in China, Bi put forward some solutions for the new capital of Kazakhstan to earn better reputation around the world. After the report, Bi continued his communication with other participants.
