HZAU-Massey University Academic Forum Is Held Online

On May 18, an academic forum, jointly staged by Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) and Massey University(MU), is held online as part of the “Massey Week”. The event will feature the participation of 16 scholars from MU and nearly 200 HZAUers from various colleges. Five parallel sessions are held in the forum, including a total of 30 presentations, which mainly center on the following 5 themes:
1.High-yield, High-efficiency and Phenotype of Crops
2.Omics & Animal Breeding
3.Animal Production and Farm Systems
4.Ecological Environment and Green Development
5.Fruit Quality Control

Wu Honghong, professor from HZAU presents a report.

All of the sessions are co-chaired by scholars from MU (including Prof. Danny Donaghy, Prof. Dorian Garrick, Prof. Chris Anderson, Dr. Penny Back and Dr. Janet Reid), and from HZAU (including Prof. Guo Liang, Prof. Feng Xionghan, Prof. Xu Juan, Associate Prof. Xu Xuewen and Associate Researcher Li Jingyi) . Scholars from both universities introduced their research teams and share their latest research findings. Then, 30 informative reports are presented, covering a wide range of  topics, such as pasture and grazing research, herbicide resistance in weeds, nanosensor’s ability in plant early stress detection, etc.
After the forum, teachers from both sides continued discussion on matters of mutual interest and future scientific cooperation. Hua Guohua, associate professor from the College of Animal Sciences & Technology and Veterinary Medicine, said the exchange enhanced mutual understanding of teachers from both sides and that her study arouse great interest of Prof. Patrick Morel and Dr. Penny Back from MU. In addition, Prof. Paul Kenyon, Head of the School of Agriculture and Environment, took a positive note on the forum on behalf of MU, and hoped that both sides would push for further academic exchanges in order to build a sustainable platform for scientific collaboration.
