Li Lecheng, executive vice governor of Hubei Province, investigated the development of Hubei modern seed industrial chain in HZAU and Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences, on May 18. In the symposium delivered, he underlined that the decisions of Hubei Provincial People’s Government regarding vigorous growth in key industrial chain should be earnestly implemented, goal- and effect-oriented approach unswervingly favored, and improvement in industrial chain steadily secured, which could serve as an impetus for boosting high-quality development of Hubei seed industry.
Subsequent to the inspection of several bases including rape breeding base and reports presented by academicians as well as representatives from relevant enterprises and administrations, Li set forth that Hubei seed industry boasts a slew of advantages featuring profound scientific prowess, abundant germplasm resources, and outstanding breeding ability. Given rapid industrial development, all sectors in each region should work hard to seize the opportunities, focus on priority work, and put in targeted efforts with a view to speeding up the progress in building up the industrial chain of Hubei seed industry.
Li underscored that we must figure out what we have and look to undertake general survey of agricultural germplasm resources. Aside from finding our way, we should turn spotlight on key links like scientific research, transformation of scientific results, and market application, and set priorities with categorization strategy. In accordance with well-defined goals, scientific approach should be adopted in the planning of output value target and development blueprint on the basis of Hubei’s current situation. With focus on the bottleneck in development, solid efforts should be made in maximizing the synergy of the talent, technology, and leading enterprises in an attempt to provide coordinated services. Based on the international first-class standard, refined measures should be taken to delve into supportive polices and implementation pathways. For the sake of better serving national strategy, we should seek more support either by proactive report to the superior administration or more linkage in the chain. Endeavoring to fulfill duty, we should strive to improve the mechanism as a way of pooling strength that enables us to use modern methods to make the industrial chain of Hubei seed industry more competent with industrial philosophy.
