Recently, the opening ceremony of 2021 Smart Agriculture Industry-University-Research Summit was held in HZAU. More than 500 experts and entrepreneurs from 74 universities and research institutes, and 84 enterprises across the country discussed the future development of smart agriculture.
The two-day summit focused on the integrated application and innovative development of new technologies, new equipment and new thinking in smart agriculture under the theme of “Digital Empowerment and Integrated Innovation”. The agenda of the summit was divided into plenary speeches and special reports. The former was attended by 13 scholars in the field and some business representatives. The latter included four themes: smart farm, smart farming, smart gardening and smart agriculture, and a total of 32 scholars from various fields were invited to make presentations.
During the plenary speeches, the academicians discussed the development of smart agriculture from the aspects of agricultural sci-tech innovation, agricultural higher education reform, research and practice of smart agriculture and digitalization of agricultural industry. After reviewing the 40-year development history of China’s agricultural technology since reform and opening-up, Prof. Chen Huanchun of HZAU advocated that the development of agricultural science and technology requires talents to establish the country, science and technology to strengthen the country and industry to rejuvenate the country.
Academician Zhao Chunjiang, Director and Chief Expert of the National Agricultural Information Engineering Technology Research Center, elaborated the practice of smart agriculture from specific aspects such as smart production of rice and smart prevention and control of animal epidemics, focusing on the problems existing in smart agriculture in China. He said: “To implement smart agriculture, we must first solve the core technical problems. At the same time, the basic research of agricultural science in China is relatively weak.”
“At present, China is in the initial stage of training professional talents in smart agriculture, and we still have a long way to probe into,” said Li Zhaohu, president of HZAU, “Technological innovation and talent training are extremely crucial. It is imperative to set up interdisciplinary subjects, develop professional talents and bring digital technology into agricultural industry.”
