On April 10, the Wuhan Alumni Association conference of Huazhong Agricultural University was held in the conference hall of Hetian hotel. Attendees included Li Zhaohu, Li Mingjia (vice presidents of Alumni Association) and more than 200 representatives from Wuhan Alumni Association, other branch alumni association, some functional departments and colleges. The meeting was hosted by Vice President of HZAU Guo Gangqi.

At the meeting, provincial Alumni Association and Wuhan Alumni Association were adjusted and merged. The list of candidates for the fourth council of Wuhan Alumni Association was approved and announced by Yang Shaobo (one of the leaders of HZAU).

Li expressed warm welcome to the present alumni and his appreciation to the contributions made by all previous Council members and alumni in running the association, promoting the communication between alumni and their alma mater, and guiding the alumni to serve the society. He pointed out that "alumni are the wealth of HZAU and play an important role in the university construction." In order to better utilize the strength of alumni and build a community with shared emotion, value and development, he put forward three advices for Wuhan Alumni Association:

First, to implement the new development concept and strengthen agriculture industry with HZAU. The university and alumni have contributed to a series of strategic aspects such as food security and agricultural products supply. In the new era, they should continue to take it as their own responsibility to revive agricultural industry and shoulder the responsibility of agricultural modernization.

Second, to build a new development pattern and build a community of innovation, creation and entrepreneurship together. The university and alumni should deepen the cooperative relationship with all other industries, build an innovation and entrepreneurship industry chain, and play a role in talent training and rural revitalization.

Third, to pursue new development goals and share with the university the historical mission of building a world-class university with distinctive characteristics. It is the dream and goal of every HZAUer to build a world-class university with distinctive characteristics. This process also requires alumni to actively participate in, offer ideas and plans, so that the alma mater can pave the way in modern higher education and make greater contributions to the society.
