Recently, the rollout of COVID-19 vaccination on campus has been under way. Here’s a report from inoculation site in Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU).
At 10 a.m., Jafar, doctoral student of College of Horticulture & Forestry Sciences from Pakistan, along with his classmates arrived at the site for vaccination.
“I’ve just received a dose, and everything’s fine. The doctors and volunteers there are really nice.” said Jafar.
From previous survey, there are about 21,000 students and teachers in HZAU willing to be vaccinated. Thus, A special crew, made up of nearly 30 medical staff in 8 groups, is set up at the inoculation site, and makes inoculation available for students and teachers in different colleges from 8 am to 8 pm every day.
“If there are more than 2,000 people to be inoculated in one college, we can manage it in a day. In general, we would have students and teachers from two to three colleges vaccinated in a day, considering our capacity of inoculating 220 people per hour.” Said Zhao Xiaojian, deputy secretary of HZAU hospital.
The inoculation site is well organized, with different areas designated for registration, inoculation, observation & emergency-responding etc. Also, there are student volunteers to guide inoculators along the way, shortening the whole process in less than 15 minutes for each person.
“I waited for 5 to 10 minutes, and then it’s all set for inoculation.” Qiu Lu said, a graduate student from the College of Life Science and Technology.
According to Zhao Xiaojian, deputy secretary of HZAU hospital, now the vaccine coverage in HZAU has exceeded 80% and a total of 15312 people have been inoculated so far. Out of safety concern, HZAU will follow the directions of Wuhan Municipal Health to simplify procedures, ensuring everyone fitting the requirements could be vaccinated.
